With profound sadness, family and loved ones have announced the sudden passing of Tehirere Maihi, a deeply cherished daughter, sister, cousin, niece, moko, and friend. Her unexpected passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, as family members and the wider community come together in grief, remembrance, and support.
Tehirere will be remembered for the love, warmth, and joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Friends and whānau describe her as someone whose presence carried kindness, strength, and compassion. She shared meaningful connections with many people and touched countless lives through her caring nature, laughter, and spirit.
As loved ones mourn this heartbreaking loss, tributes and messages of support continue pouring in from family, friends, and members of the community who are honoring Tehirere’s memory. Family has shared that Tehirere will lay in state at her home on Norrie Street in Hamilton, where loved ones are welcome to gather, share stories, offer prayers, and celebrate her life together. A Kai Hākari will also be held before she begins her final journey to rest alongside her father at Te Pooporo Urupā in Te Akau.
During this incredibly difficult time, the family has respectfully asked for patience and support as final arrangements continue to be made. They have also expressed gratitude for the kindness, love, and koha being offered by the community as they navigate this painful period of mourning.
