Daria (Altieri) Cant Philadelphia, PA Death-Obituary: Daria Cant, Cherished Mother and Grandmother, Passes Away at 71

Daria Cant (née Altieri), age 71, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Joan Altieri. Daria spent her early years in Colwyn, attending Colwyn Elementary School before graduating from Darby Colwyn High School in 1972. In 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, family, and devotion.

Daria dedicated nearly 30 years of her professional life to Mainline Fertility, where she lovingly described her work as “making babies.” Her compassionate spirit extended beyond her career through her active involvement at St. Bernadette Parish, where she participated in the Women’s Club and supported numerous volunteer efforts.

Above all, Daria’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Dana and Jimmy, and a deeply loving Nonna to her grandchildren, Sofia and Vincent, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Her home was always a place of warmth and welcome, where family and friends gathered around lovingly prepared meals and beautifully set tables that reflected her care and creativity.

Daria and Jim cherished traveling with family and friends, including The Cant siblings and their close-knit Lansdowne circle. Some of her most treasured memories were made during summers in Maine, where she delighted in watching her grandchildren play on the same beaches her own children once enjoyed. She was also blessed with lifelong friendships, including two childhood best friends who remained by her side for over six decades.

Known for her elegance, style, and grace, Daria carried herself beautifully even during difficult times. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel special through thoughtful gestures, handwritten notes, and her ever-present kindness. Simply put, she was deeply loved by all who knew her.

Daria is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Cant; her children Dana Orapallo (John) and Jimmy Cant (Jen); her grandchildren Sofia and Vincent; her brothers Robert and Bruce Altieri; and many extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Ruffenach Funeral Home in Drexel Hill, followed by a second viewing on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church, with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
